This week's MacWorld Expo in San Fran was a major disappointment. The Expo part was largely devoted to iPhone and iPad "stuff." There was very little Mac stuff per se. This indicates what others have pointed out, namely that "mobile' as a category is supplanting "computers" as a category.
The exhibits also suggests, not surprisingly, that Apple through vertical and horizontal integration has kept the lion's share of value generators, leaving the dregs for everyone else.
Dregs: cases, mountings, and, to use a technical term, chachkies.
